No one from Malevolent was submitted. I might do a bonus round of the color-coded eye-symbolism protagonists (Cecil Night Vale, Jon Magnus Archives, Nikignik Hallowoods, John/Arthur Malevolent) but I would need someone else to provide a description of him/them because I haven't listened to Malevolent myself.

The Sankt Nikolai, Patron Saint of Lost Causes, Award goes to: Oncat, for almost??? beating??? Nikolai???? You may not have made it into the show, Oncat, but you clearly made it into our hearts! Her prize will be, as previously stated, an honorary position as minister in Ravka’s new government

The Horseshoes and Hand-Grenades Award goes to: David Kostyk, who lost to Zoya by exactly one vote. His prize will be a generous four entire horseshoes and one single hand-grenade to be used at his discretion. This poll does not accept liability for any subsequent damages to Little Palace property in the name of science

The Fold Endowment Fund Award for Living Rent Free in People’s Minds goes to: Aleksander Morozova himself, for inciting so much ire in people previously uninterested in this bracket that said poll received significantly more votes than any other—including about 500+ people who voted in only that poll and not the other semifinal running concurrently. His prize is the smug knowledge that numerically, he still received a greater number of votes in the semifinal round than either Genya or Nikolai (by approximately double). He will also receive a handful of sand from the Fold, to represent the lack of grass being touched

Results of the best KKJ song bracket!!!

Congrats to Mamasé for being the best KKJ song! Also not pictured here, but Meiden van de brandweer gets a honorary mention for coming 4th.

Some fun stats:

Lollypopland, Beroemd and Niet-verjaardagsfeest had the biggest increase when compared to the full K3 bracket, Lollypopland was originally ranked 24th but managed to become 9th! Beroemd was ranked 21st and came 8th and Niet-verjaardagsfeest was ranked 28th but came 18th!

The biggest losers are Eya Hoya! and Willem Alexander, both losing 14 spots in the ranking

When looking at the albums, Eyo was the most popular, the average rank is 20.33, the next album is Mamasé (24.67) and then at a distance Engeltjes (32.92), Loko Le (35.69) and Alice in Wonderland (36.60). (The two singles without an album are K3 Loves you at place 20 and K3 kan het! at place 31.)

So next is the HKM bracket, per popular demand it's going to be a 64 song bracket starting with a group stage that I will probably put up early next week so stay posted!

For TNG: Code of Honor is the basic answer, but it does really suck lmao. Angel One and The Outcast get honorary mentions for trying to be progressive and adress societal issues but ending up with just kind of awkward metaphors that have weird implications if you think about them. The attempt was here, I guess.

Honestly, Star Trek has a lot of bad episodes. I'm not going to name all of them. Maybe one day!

8. Do complex puzzles intrigue or frustrate them?

take a wild guess. i think he would give it an earnest try, even if just to prove he can, but. he would be crying from the stress in about 10 minutes.

29. What recurring dreams do they have?

Well aside from the usual Durge murder stuff…

Probably fuzzy little snapshots of his childhood warlock mentor (i’ve been tweaking his childhood to make it a sort of foil to Gortash’s to feed his delusions about them being Two Halves, which also kills two birds with one stone because so far i’ve been STRUGGLING to figure the details of his warlock pact. why do i love brackets so much. is this even relevant information)

anyway. probably a lot of his dreams take place in the big empty house he grew up in, and OH I CANT BELIEVE I FORGOT THIS ONE.

he dreams a LOT about the first time he ever “mercy” killed. over and over. him as a nurse, standing over an injured paladin. his wounds are debilitating - he’ll never fight again, he’ll be lucky if he’ll be able to find work - but they are not fatal. Aeryn lies to him, tells him they are, coaxes him with honeyed words through every stage of grief before finally, acceptance, and kisses his head before driving his dagger into his heart :)

and Gortash makes appearances too, but it’s very abstract, very vague: drowning, feeling his internal organs being tampered with. one in particular. but i think he mostly feels Gortash’s presence not in dreams, but in sleep paralysis. that’s Gortash to me.

30. what would they do if they knew they would be forgiven?

He wishes he could cut Gortash’s heart out to prove to him that “you have one of your own! stop being creepy about mine!!!”

I see your 40k monthly listeners and I just wanted to say, there's a total of 6k people in the main Outer Wilds discord server - none of whom cared about this poll. :'D The one time I tried to bring it up there, it just went ignored. We mostly ran things from a much smaller discord, which only has 63 members. So I wasn't kidding when I said that the Outer Wilds community is small. For reference, there is a total of 250 fanfics in the entire Outer Wilds tag on ao3. That's it. We're really that small. Lobotomy Corp alone has 706.

You mentioned that the poll only reached the Outer Wilds community two days before it ended, but that's not really true - we were there from the beginning, we just kept rallying and rallying to somehow close the gap. It was the same people reblogging the poll again and again, to hopefully reach as many of their followers as they could. :'D That was all it was. No heroic infantry of the big community coming in at the last moment. Just a tiny community trying its best the whole way through.

I'm just sending this to put things into perspective. That's why I called the other two communities "big" - because in comparison, they sure seemed to be. I'm still sorry that someone from our community verbally attacked you, that definitely wasn't okay. I apologise on their behalf. But I figured that this might explain why they were so frustrated about the 2v1. :') I know it might seem otherwise, but Hatchling never had some huge community backing them.

OH FOR REAL? GOT DAM

I did get advice from Mx Narrative before starting the bracket because I had miscalculated how much the Outer Wilds fans were going to be rallying around their guy, and it definitely did help the brackets, but I guess I can see where the 2v1 makes things difficult!

I am giving Hatchling ice cream and a little pat, you're right alongside that woe begone guy as honorary third place <3

so, i already have anough stuff on my little document to do a second bracket, but i haven't finalised which are making it in... which means its not too late to nominate your fave! submission guidelines are in the pinned post on this sideblog (with the addition that, obviously, anything included in the first bracket isn't eligible).

it's still going to be left open indefinitely, but i'm aiming to sort it out after like, a week or two <3 in the mean time, i'm gonna be posting some knockouts for honorary mentions & rejected submissions, as well as some curiosity matches for some series that didn't go head to head in the first bracket (if anyone has any suggestions for that, feel free to drop an ask ^_^)
